Hi Robert,

I like your thoughts about world politics and making things better. Very inspiring visions, with which I agree.

I'm not much involved in politics, myself - mostly have been doing some editing work lately, helping people write papers, etc. Being challenged to find that delicate balance between editing and colonialism: Clearly correctly for mistakes in grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity of meaning, etc. is an important part of my job. Then noticing how sometimes my creative vision gets all caught up in wanting the paper to be how I would write it, if I were writing it. But I'm not the writer, just the editor! ... so have to hold back a bit at those moments, out of respect for the author's own vision and process (even especially if I'm convinced that I could do it much better myself).

Little by little I'm learning, and eventually will probably leave the editing business altogether, and just author and co-author things.

my religion/philosophy mostly falls into the category of:

(1) no-pain, no-gain
(2) no-pleasure, no-gain
(3) no-transcending-of-pain&pleasure, no gain
(3) no-transcending-of-gain&loss, no gain
(4) none of the above
(5) none of the below
